Special Board Meeting

February 15, 2006

 

Present for Quorum:  James Mercier, Lynn Dickinson, Nilda Gonnella-French, Donna Corrigan, and Al Corey

 

Jim Mercier called the meeting to order at 4:45.

 

Everyone presented recited the pledge of allegiance

 

Al Corey made a motion to go into executive session at 4:47 p.m. for student issues.  Lynn Dickinson seconded the motion.   Motion carried 5-0.

 

Al Corey made Motion to come out of executive session at 7:40 p.m.  Lynn Dickinson seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Student #2[1]

 

Al Corey made a motion to approve the recommendation from the administration for expulsion of student #2 for the remainder of the school year and to have the parents at their expense to pursue the following:

 

1.      Complete Centerpoint or similar adolescent program;

2.      Sign and date a release for the school to receive information and the full evaluation completed at the adolescent facility;

3.      Check-in with a guidance and SAP Counselor via telephone while on expulsion once a week.  When the student returns to school check-ins should occur bi-weekly;

4.      Pursue educational alternatives;

5.      Develop a plan with the school Administration to return to school in August, 2006; and

6.      Have a re-entry meeting with the Administration and the SAP counselor prior to returning to school.

 

The motion was seconded by Lynn Dickerson. Motion carried 5-0

 

Student #3[2]

 

Al  Corey made  a motion to approve the recommendation from the administration for continuation in school of student #3, but any further violation of the Drug and Alcohol Policy will result in disciplinary action during the 2005-2006 school year, and to have the parents at their expense to pursue the following:

 

1.   At parent(s) expense complete Centerpoint or similar adolescent program, with random drug testing if required;

2.   Sign and date a release for the school to receive information and the full evaluation completed at the adolescent facility;

3.   Check-in with SAP Counselor in person once a week.  After the first month check-ins should occur bi-weekly;

4.   Develop a plan with the School Administration;

5.   Random searches;

6.   Positive attendance record;

7.   Provide documentation to the School Administration that you are following through with the recommendations listed above.

 

The motion was seconded by Lynn Dickerson. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Student #4[3]

 

Al Corey made a motion to approve the recommendation from the administration for expulsion of student #4 for the remainder of the school year and to have the parents at their expense to pursue the following:

 

1.   Complete Centerpoint or similar adolescent program;
