BFA/FES Team Plan

    This year's FES plan started this past summer (2001) when Lindsay, Lelia, Amy and Mr. Trombley went to UVM for a 4 day stay.  There we met up with 2 other Vermont schools, Oxbo and North Country, as well as one from Harlem, NY.  We all got along well and made very strong friendships.  We made plans for the up coming school year.  The BFA students decided that we wanted to set up a helping program that would allow students to go help the elders who call and need help shoveling, grocery shopping, etc.  This plan however, did not work out.

    Next, in the fall of 2001 Lindsay Fletcher and Bryan Brannon attended a weekend meeting at Basin Harbor, Vt.  There we met Ms. Overeynder, Mr. Camisa, Mr. Corey and Mr. Trombley.  We discussed putting together a mentoring program.  While staying in our cottages on the shore of Lake Champlain we sang songs and got to know each other a little better.  We discussed different issues and were open minded.

    In October Lindsay and Amy took a trip to Northfield, Vt where the next get together would be held.  This meeting was more laid back.  The Allison and Naomi from NYC had never carved pumpkins before...so we went and got some to carve.  This was an interesting event.  Later, after an early Thanksgiving dinner, we all shared how are plans were coming along.  We gave advice to each school as well as recieved some. 

   In late fall, early winter a national conference was held in which Lindsay and Amy attended.  All schools in FES were there.  Lindsay, Michelle (Oxbo), Katie (No. Country) and some others were the 'leaders' of one of the meetings.  This was a great thing because the students from the schools got to talk and explain their feelings towards the issues rather than adults leading the discussions.

   In the winter, Naomi and Allison came to Vt to visit!  The two stayed at Amy's house at night while in the day, all of us (Amy, Lindsay, Lelia, Naomi and Allison) had lots of fun.  We showed them our town and just hung out like we usually would.

    The week of May 19th-22nd, Lindsay, Lelia, Amy, Ms. Overeynder and Mr. Tromley finally get to go to NYC!  We will be visiting the girls school, Wadliegh Secondary Highschool.  We will get to see what life in NYC is like.
